She will risk her life to protect him. But he will risk everything to protect them all.

Author Bio

Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her  husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

Interview

Please welcome Lightning Kissed author Lila Felix to Diane’s Book Blog.

What is your favorite part of the story, Lightning Kissed?

I love that this story begins with a relationship that’s already begun and ended and somehow they are finding each other again.

Where did the idea for Lightning Kissed come from?

I have always loved the idea of teleporters. I mean, how cool is travelling the world at the blink of an eye?

How long did it take you to write Lightning Kissed?

It took me about six weeks to write it.

What sort of research did you do while planning the series?

I had to research all of the cool places around the world where they went. I also had some amazing help from a street team member on the Portuguese. Because Theo speaks Portuguese and just *sigh*.

If you were stranded on a desert island which of your characters do you want by your side?

Is all of them too many? Because I want every single one. The good ones for friends and the villains for entertainment.

If you could be best friends with one of your characters, who would it be?

I would definitely be best friends with Colby from Lightning Kissed. Hello, free travel!

What inspired you to write your first book?

My first book is actually the true story of how my husband and I met. There’s no greater inspiration than true life.

What is your favorite book that you wrote?

That’s not fair! All of them are my favorite in different ways.

Who or what inspired you to be a writer?

Reading inspired me to write. I think that’s the case for all authors.

What books have most influenced your life?

When I was a kid, I was never censored in my reading material. I was reading Stephen King and Anne Rice before I was thirteen. I think those first big novels will always influence me in one way or another.

What's your favorite book-turned movie?

It has to be Lord of the Rings. Even with all of its changes from the novels, they are still excellent films.

Who is your favorite author and what is it that really strikes you about their work?

Right now I’m on a Neil Gaiman kick. I love that he is obtuse and specific at the same time. He’s detailed and vague all in one. I love that about his writing.

What is your typical day like?

I wake up super early. I love those early morning quiet times. After that, I homeschool my children and do normal stay at home mom things. After my husband gets home, I write the hell out of it.

How do you overcome writer’s block?

The one time I’ve experienced writer’s block, I cured it by binge reading.

What book are you reading now?

I’m reading Twisted by Amity Hope.

What do you prefer paperback, hardcover, or ebooks?

All of it! All of the precious.

Do you have anything specific that you want to say to your readers?

I love my readers! I wouldn’t be the writer I am today without them. I’m so grateful for anyone who picks up my books and reads them.
